ABOUT
About provides visitor information.
derbyshireandthepeakdistrict.co.uk
In December 2003, I launched a website covering Derbyshire and the Peak District.
After two years, the site regularly averaged above 1,000 visitors per day, unfortunately, shortly after changing my email address. I did not get a reminder to renew my domain name, so I lost it. My old site existed until late 2024 for placing advertisements. I have tried to contact the person involved but have been unsuccessful. Currently, another organisation uses the domain name but not my text and images.
Pandemic
Whilst self-isolating during the pandemic, I built a second website – discover-derby.co.uk.
In 2025, I set up a new website to provide visitors with information I acquired during the last 25 years of writing for the Derby Telegraph, The Derbyshire Magazine, and other publications, including seven books.
IT Skills
My IT and website-building skills are very limited, so I have kept the site’s layout very simple. I developed the website using WordPress and Elementor Pro. I would be delighted to hear from anyone with experience in that area.
Building a website from scratch is not easy for a non-technical person. If I were to start again, I would do things much differently. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy my site, and if so, do not forget to tell your friends about it. Something I would very much appreciate.
The site is independent, not-for-profit, and does not have any sponsors.
The copyright for the text and images is that of the webmaster.
PLEASE USE THE CONTACT FORM TO GET IN TOUCH. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE SITE.
